The Santa Cruz Warriors fell to the host Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 155-148, on Monday night at State Farm Arena.
The Warriors (11-10), who had won nine of their last 11 games before Monday night, trailed by 16 points early in the third quarter but slowly chipped away during the next quarter and a half.
Cam Jones’ layup with 3:15 left in the fourth trimmed the deficit to four points but Santa Cruz’s comeback attempt fell short.
Alex Hamilton came off the bench to pace the Warriors (11-10) with a game-high 35 points, shooting 79 percent from the field. LaDontae Henton contributed 32 points, five rebounds and five assists, while Scott Wood added 21 points and Golden State assignee, Damian Jones (11 points, 11 rebounds) and Phil Pressey (16 points, 10 assists) both notched double-doubles.
Gary Payton II notched a double-double to lead the Vipers (15-8) with 20 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. Darius Morris also recorded a double-double, contributing with 29 points and 14 rebounds. Kyle Wiltjer, on assignment from the Houston Rockets, added 26 points and 10 rebounds.
The Warriors return home to celebrate Kevin Durant Bobblehead Night on Wednesday against the Canton Charge on at 7 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente Arena.
