Brynn Mitchell, Aptos, Jr.: A star on the soccer team in the winter and the track and field squad in the spring, Mitchell is one of Aptos High’s young rising athletes poised to become a leader this school year.

Playing in her second varsity season, Mitchell, a skilled defender, helped the Mariners’ soccer team win its fifth consecutive Santa Cruz Coast Athletic League championship and advance to the Central Coast Section Open Division playoffs.

She followed up her soccer season by winning individual SCCAL titles in long jump and triple jump, while also advancing to the CCS Finals in both events.

With the soccer team graduating seven seniors, including two-time league MVP, Monserrat Hernandez Marquez, Midfielder of the Year, Paige Dueck, and Defender of the Year, Grace Rothman, Mitchell and the rest of the Mariners’ up-and-coming players will need to raise their games to another level if they wish to continue the program’s recent surge of success.
