Christian Cabuag, M.V.C., So.: After making a big impression as a freshman last winter, Monte Vista Christian’s star wrestler will be considered one of the local favorites to win a Central Coast Section crown this year.

Cabuag last season won a Monterey Bay League championship at 113 pounds and also finished runner-up at the CCS meet, falling to Silver Creek High senior Eric Sanchez. He also posted a 2-2 record at the CIF state meet and finished the year ranked 11th in the state at 113 pounds, according to calgrappler.com.

With Sanchez gone to graduation, Cabuag is poised to be the gatekeeper in the 113-pound division at the CCS meet for the foreseeable future.
