Christian Quintero, Pajaro Valley, Jr.: Already a solid scorer as a freshman for the Pajaro Valley basketball team, the 5-foot-11 guard added to his repertoire and took a massive leap forward last winter.

He averaged 21.7 points per game — the fourth-most in the Central Coast Section — and led the Grizzlies back to the CCS playoffs for the second straight season. He also led the team in steals (2.4) and was second in rebounding (4.9) and assists (2.0).

With forward Tony Reyes and guard Ryan Magbag gone to graduation, the Monterey Bay League Pacific division’s Sophomore of the Year will have to take another step forward for the Grizzlies this winter.
