Agustina Saavedra Velazquez died on May 10, surrounded by her family. She was 86.
Mrs. Velazquez loved going to Saint Patrick’s Church, where she volunteered during mass. She also enjoyed going to the Watsonville Senior Center and participated in the annual parades.
Mrs. Velazquez was known for her ability to make people laugh and defuse any situation with her witty jokes. She was also known as a fashionista. She was a very strong human being and remained positive up until her last moments.
Mrs. Velazquez is survived by her children; Angelica Castro, Lupe Morin, Rosalinda Thomas, Martin Saavedra, Prisciliano Saavedra, Hector Saavedra, Anna Vega and Arcelia Hofdahl. Agustina is also survived by her siblings; Consuelo, Miguel, Adolfo, Socorro, Anita, Javier, Alfredo, Rogelio, Fidencio, Delia, Elidia Velazquez and 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Velazquez was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Guadalupe Saavedra.
Visitation services will be held on May 17 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. Mass will be held that day at 1 p.m. at Saint Patricks Church with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
