WATSONVILLE — Cecilia Melgoza died at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017. She was 46.

Mrs. Melgoza was born to Jose Gonzalo Cortes and Josefina Ortiz Fernandez in Michoacán, Mexico on June 28, 1971. She settled in this community 23 years ago. She learned the English language and went to school and earned her GED. She was employed as an insurance agent for 17 years at Farmers Insurance Agency. Mrs. Melgoza was a hard-working woman, excellent cook, and kept her house immaculate clean. She was devoted to her family. 

Mrs. Melgoza is survived by her husband, Rigoberto Melgoza Torres; son, Omar Melgoza Cortes; daughter, Maria Vianney Melgoza; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel on Monday, Sept. 18 from 5-9 p.m. with the rosary recited at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church (Maria Auxiliadora) on Tuesday at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Valley Public Cemetery.
