Farm Bureau’s Annual Meeting set

WATSONVILLE — The Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau’s 100th anniversary will be celebrated at its Annual Meeting on June 22 at Watsonville Slough Farms.  

The featured speaker for the celebration will be Karen Ross, secretary of the California Department of Food and Agriculture. 

At the event, the 2017 Farmer of the Year recipient will be announced. The program also includes the election of officers and five board members for the 2017-2018 year.

Triple P holding parenting workshop

APTOS — Triple P – Positive Parenting Program will offer the free workshop “Preventing and Managing Disobedience” on Tuesday from 5-6:30 p.m. at Community Bridges, 236 Santa Cruz Ave. in Aptos. 

Attend this free workshop to learn why children might be uncooperative or refuse to follow directions, how to give instructions to facilitate your child’s cooperation,  and how to respond calmly and consistently when your child refuses to follow directions.

Capitola Soroptimists hosting membership mixer

CAPITOLA — Soroptimist International of Capitola-By-The-Sea will host a membership mixer at Discretion Brewing, 2703 41st Ave., Suite A in Soquel, on May 30 from 5-7 p.m.

Appetizers will be provided. The mixer is open to the public.

Soroptimist, a coined Latin phrase meaning “Best for Women,” aims to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment. Membership in the Capitola club is open to all in Santa Cruz County.

Annual passes available from Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY — Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks announced two California State Parks annual passes are available for purchase on the Friends’ website, www.thatsmypark.org.

With a large portion of the proceeds from park pass sales benefitting local state parks and beaches in Santa Cruz County and coastal San Mateo County, the 12-month passes provide entry to dozens of California State Parks and Beaches.

The Golden Poppy Annual Pass includes access to many of the parks in the redwood region, state historic parks, deserts, hot springs, rivers and most of the state reservoirs. It is not valid at Off Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation areas and high-demand Southern California beach parks. The pass costs $125.

The California Explorer Annual Pass provides access to most California State Parks, State Recreation Areas and State Beaches that collect a vehicle day use fee, including high-demand Southern California beach parks. The pass costs $195.
