APTOS — Sheriff’s deputies on Wednesday responded to a report of a shooting and stabbing on Loma Verde Place off of Trout Gulch Road in the Aptos Hills.

According to emergency dispatchers, a woman called 911 at about 4:15 p.m. to report she and another woman were shot by a man. One of the gunshot victims reportedly stabbed the shooter during the incident.

The woman said the shooter was unconscious after being stabbed, and the other victim was unconscious.

Deputies on scene said they found two victims in a room. One victim was confirmed dead, but authorities did not release the victim's gender.

Air ambulances took two people to out-of-area trauma centers.

Trout Gulch Road was closed at Loma Verde Place.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office was releasing few details Wednesday night.
