MANRESA BEACH — An early morning fire tore through a home and an outbuilding Sunday on the 1500 block of San Andreas Road.

When Aptos/LaSelva firefighters arrived at the 5 a.m. blaze they were met with a single story home that was fully engulfed in flames, said Capt. Will Wingert.

“There were live power lines down everywhere,” Wingert said. “It was a very dangerous situation.”

The fire was so well involved, in the farmland setting, that the home, which was abandoned, was completely flattened. A nearby outbuilding was also heavily damaged by the fire. The charred remains of a tractor stood smoking in the ruins.

No injuries were reported. Firefighters remained on the scene for hours to complete mop up operations.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
