WATSONVILLE — Watsonville Police are looking for five men who burglarized the residence of a 92-year-old woman after forcing their way inside, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian Cleveland reported Friday.

According to Cleveland, the men knocked on the woman’s door on the 200 block of Hames Road at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.

When the victim opened the door, the suspects forced her to the ground and demanded jewelry.

The victim said that a total of five suspects entered her home, and that one was armed with a handgun.

The suspects stole several items and fled the residence.

Three of the suspects were described as Hispanic men, 18-20 years old, wearing hooded clothing.

One witness reported a suspicious white sedan driving through the area around the time of the robbery, Cleveland said.

On Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office Community Contact Team responded to the neighborhood to present residents with crime prevention information.

“We urge our elderly residents to be cautious when answering the door to their homes to anyone they do not know or are expecting,” Cleveland said.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Anyone with information is asked to call Sheriff’s Office Dispatch at 471-1121. Callers should reference case number 18-01149.
