Health Trust provides health screenings for local residents

WATSONVILLE — The Pajaro Valley Community Health Trust provided diabetes prevention education and blood glucose screenings to residents attending the Watsonville Certified Farmer's Market downtown on May 25.

Now in its 15th year, the Diabetes Health Fair included Zumba in the park, health screenings and health and wellness information provided by 25 local organizations.  Farm labor activist Dolores Huerta also made a guest appearance.

Students from the Watsonville High School Health Academy supervised children's games and Bike Santa Cruz County offered opportunities to make bicycle spin art. Second Harvest Food Bank provided 200 bags of produce for distribution to health fair participants. Guests also participated in a free raffle for three bicycles, Ninja blenders, a Soda Stream appliance, goodie bags, gift cards and other prizes.
