Emergency officials try to untangle the circumstances in a crash on southbound Highway 1 Friday. California Highway Patrol Sgt. Jason Grimm said two men and a woman were in a Chrysler minivan traveling south on Highway 1 around Freedom Boulevard just after 8 a.m. when the men got into an argument. At one point the male passenger tried to strangle the male driver while the vehicle was moving. That's when the minivan collided with a small blue sedan with a female driver. Grimm said the men continued to fight after the van stopped. One of the men exited the vehicle and the other man locked all the doors. The man outside the van then punched out a window just as police arrived. The driver was arrested for DUI, Grimm said, and the other man was detained. No injuries were reported. Traffic was snarled on southbound Highway 1 for more than an hour.
