HS Softball: Mustangs score bounce back win behind bats

Watsonville wins fourth straight, Rodriguez closes in on 600 career Ks

Monte Vista Christian rebounded from last week’s Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress division loss with a 15-7 win over Soledad on Wednesday in Watsonville.

The Mustangs tallied 15 hits in the win to improve to 8-7 overall and 7-2 in league action.

Kristina Bravo was 3-for-3 with a double and four scored runs. Scarlett Finn went 3-for-5 with four RBI and two scored runs. Samantha Baer and Alexa Keller drove in two runs apiece.

M.V.C. travels across town to play St. Francis today at 4:30 p.m.

In other girls softball action from April 4-10:

Watsonville rolling again - The Wildcatz edged Christopher 4-3 on Wednesday in Gilroy to win their fourth straight game.

The win improves Watsonville to 11-3 overall and 3-2 in PCAL-Gabilan division play.

Pitcher Jessica Rodriguez notched the win in a relief effort. She allowed two hits over four innings, and struck out five batters to give her 599 strikeouts for her highs school career.

Juliana Wilson went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a scored run. Maya Guerrero finished 2-for-3 with two scored runs and an RBI. Jazmyn Martinez also went 2-for-3.

Watsonville over the weekend also scored a 5-1 win against Gilroy and a 3-1 victory over Westmont in the Wilcox Mission City Tournament. Wilson was 5-for-6 with three doubles and two RBI over the two wins.

St. Francis 8, Alisal 6 - St. Francis took over second place in the PCAL-C win Wednesday’s win.

Lena Ciandro was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a scored run in the win, which moved the Sharks to 5-5-1 overall and 5-3 in league play.

Aaliyah Gomez also doubled and scored two runs.

Audrey Hernandez and Angelina Heredia both went 2-for-3.

St. Francis hosts M.V.C. today at 4:30 p.m.
