WATSONVILLE — Acclaimed rock band Making Movies will perform at the Appleton Grill, 410 Rodriguez St., on Sunday at 7 p.m.

The band, hailing from Kansas City, Mo., is currently in the middle of its nationwide “We Are All Immigrants” tour. They are known for their fusion of traditional rock’n’roll riffs and Afro-Latino rhythms.

As strong advocates for DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) students, the stop in Watsonville will highlight the band’s advocacy for immigrants and their children.

A portion of proceeds from the band’s latest album, “I Am Another You,” will be donated to the National Immigration Law Center.

MTV declared that Making Movies “synthesizes what’s happening in … Latin music better than anyone else out there today.”

They have performed on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert Series and shared stages with everyone from Arcade Fire to Los Lobos.

Advance tickets are available through brownpapertickets.com. For information, visit appletongrill.com or call 724-5555.
