The Cabrillo College Seahawks blasted De Anza College 14-0 on Thursday to stop a four-game losing streak and improve to 3-6 in Coast Conference play.

Maddy Johnson was 3-for-4 with a double, two stolen bases and four RBIs. Kasey Sugimoto and Jasmine Harrington both went 2-for-3. Sugimoto hit a double and had two RBIs.

Miranda Janisch picked up the win in the circle.

Cabrillo (10-20) hosts Monterey Peninsula College on Tuesday at 3 p.m.

HS BASEBALL

• St. Francis 7, Gilroy 4  – Chase Watkins tossed 5 2-3 strong innings in St. Francis High’s non-league win on Thursday evening in Watsonville.

Watkins allowed six hits, four runs and three walks while striking out 10 batters. Derric Estrada-Haro recorded the save.

Julian Mendoza was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Blaise Magana went 3-for-3.

St. Francis also notched a non-league win over Carmel High on Wednesday.

Mendoza was 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs, while Estrada-Haro went 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs.

St. Francis hosts North Salinas High on Monday at 4 p.m.

• Watsonville 1, Pajaro Valley 0 (9 innings) – Pitcher Daivian Quintana carried Pajaro Valley High through eight innings but the Grizzlies could not pull off another upset over their cross-city rivals.

Quintana struck out six batters and walked one while only giving up two hits in Pajaro Valley’s Monterey Bay League Pacific division loss.

The Grizzlies fell to 3-6 overall and 1-5 in league.

Watsonville, meanwhile, improved to 5-4 overall and 5-2 in MBL-Pacific division action.

Max Ramirez scored the game’s only run on a bases-loaded walk in the ninth.

Ramirez had the start for Watsonville and struck out 14 batters.

Watsonville hosts North Monterey County High on Monday at 7 p.m.

Pajaro Valley plays at Alisal High on Monday at 4 p.m.

HS SOFTBALL

• Watsonville 8, Christopher 1 – The Wildcatz pounded out 14 hits in Thursday evening’s MBL-Gabilan division win in Gilroy to improve to 10-0 overall and 3-0 in league.

Juliana Wilson and Anastacia Alba combined to go 6-for-7 with two doubles, a triple, six RBIs and five scored runs.

Savanah Quintana was 2-for-3 with a double and three scored runs. Zaira Pena also doubled and knocked in a pair of runs.

Jessica Rodriguez struck out nine batters in the complete-game win.

Watsonville hosts San Benito High on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

• St. Francis 10, Trinity 0 – Shelby Velasco tossed a two-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in St. Francis’ non-league win on Wednesday in Watsonville.

Lena Ciandro was 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and two scored runs.

Ariana Azevedo finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a scored run.

Claire Cagnacci tripled.

• Carmel 3, Pajaro Valley 0 – Pajaro Valley lost in a 25-15, 25-15, 25-10 sweep to the defending MBL-Gabilan division champion on Thursday night.

Dennar Ocampo had nine assists and seven digs. Geovanny Barajas finished with seven kills.
The Grizzlies (10-10, 1-4) play in today’s Carmel Padre Classic.
