Pajaro Valley High senior Julie Che finished with a team-high 21 kills for the girls’ volleyball team as the Grizzlies defeated Seaside High on Tuesday in four sets, 25-13, 25-18, 23-25, 25-20, in non-league play. 

Che also finished with nine aces, while Isabella Langarica finished with eight kills, four digs, five aces and 12 points on serve for the Grizzlies. 

Natalia Arroyo had six kills, seven aces, four digs and 10 points on serve. Lourdes Diaz had 32 assists and nine points on serve, while Gali Carrillo finished with five digs for Pajaro Valley, which plays its Pacific Coast Athletic League Cypress division opener at Soledad on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

St. Francis 3, Live Oak 2: The Sharks defeated the Acorns on Tuesday in five sets, 23-25, 25-22, 17-25, 25-23, 15-13, in non-league play.

Up next, St. Francis plays its PCAL-Cypress opener against Anzar today at 6:30 p.m.

Men’s soccer

Cabrillo 7, Allan Hancock 0: The Seahawks rolled to back-to-back home wins to begin the season, including Tuesday’s smashing of the Bulldogs in non-conference play.

Alejandro Zambrano scored a game-high two goals, while Tanner Ruddy added a goal and a game-high three assists for the Seahawks. 

Matteo Vari, Oscar Esqueda, Thomas Bugnet and Ventura Garcia also each scored a goal.

Francisco Ruiz recorded a pair of assists, while Maxence Huin and Jackson Henderson each were credited with an assist for Cabrillo (2-0), which hits the road for the first time this season to play against American River Friday at 6 p.m.

Women’s soccer

Allan Hancock 2, Cabrillo 1: The Seahawks lost against the Bulldogs on Tuesday evening in non-conference play.

Sienna Ramirez scored the game-winning goal in the 78th minute for Allan Hancock. Nancy Esparza was credited with the assist.

Elizabet Aldana scored the first goal for the Bulldogs, while Kasandra Bright was credited with the assist.

The Seahawks (1-2) play against Shasta on Thursday at 7 p.m.
