Manuel Faustino died June 7 in Santa Cruz. He was 74.
Mr. Faustino was born on Sept. 4, 1944 in the Azores to his parents Maria Do Carmo and Antonio Faustino. He was a dedicated family man that worked hard and was always willing to help others.
He enjoyed working in his garden on a daily basis. He was a skilled handyman who enjoyed helping friends and family when they needed a hand.
He was a loyal member of the Portuguese community, always volunteering during festivals. He was a stand-up man that lived by the old adage that a handshake meant his word. He was loved by many and will be truly missed. Manuel was a resident of Watsonville.
Mr. Faustino is survived by his wife, Maria Sousa Faustino; his stepchildren, Tina Sousa, Gretta Sousa, Elizabeth Gonzales and Manuel Sousa; his sister, Maria Mendonća; and his nieces. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Tony Sousa.
A visitation service was held on Thursday, June 20 at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel. The recitation of the rosary and mass took place June 20 at St. Patrick’s Church and the burial took place directly after at Watsonville Catholic Cemetery.
Honorary Pallbearers: Gergorio Mendonća, Manuel Sousa, Manuel Raulino, Armelin Julio, Armando Sousa and Francisco Acevedo.
