Santa Cruz Metro’s Chairman of the Board Jimmy Dutra (second from right), along with some of his fellow colleagues, recently visited Washington D.C. to lobby the current administration’s Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration, and Congressmembers Anna Eshoo, Jimmy Panetta and Zoe Lofgren and Senators Dianne Feinstein and Kamala Harris. Last year, Metro was able to secure a multimillion dollar grant to purchase three new electric buses which will be used for their Highway 17 commuter service. The group is hopeful they will be successful once again with being awarded grants to continue replacing their aging fleet.
