BOULDER CREEK — A 64-year-old Boulder Creek man died in a bizarre motorcycle crash Thursday when the motorcycle he was riding crashed into downed power lines.

California Highway Patrol officer Julieta Trenado said the man was riding a 2008 BMW R1200GS westbound on Bear Creek Road east of Bear Creek Way just before noon. He reportedly failed to stop for the traffic hazard and rode into the downed wires.

He succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The cause of this collision is still under investigation and alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be contributing factors in this collision, Trenado said.

He has been identified as Andrew Wohl by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff/Coroner.
