Patti (Benich) Anderson


September 2, 1938 – October 28, 2018

Patti (Benich) Anderson, resident of Sun City, AZ, former resident of Watsonville, CA passed away after a 4-year battle with liver cancer.

She was born in Watsonville, CA to John L. and Beatrice Benich and was the oldest of 2 children. She attended Freedom Elementary School, Moreland Norte Dame and Watsonville High School. After graduating high school, she began working for Bell Telephone, Richard Shaw Frozen Foods and lastly retired from the Watsonville Teamster Union Local 912. Upon retirement she moved to Sun City, AZ.

After retirement Patti would often times come back to Watsonville to catch up with her family, friends, fellow classmates and co-workers. Patti was well known within the community and there was never a time when she could go somewhere and not run into someone she knew. Patti was a huge history buff, avid reader, enjoyed doing crosswords and Sudoku as well as playing golf. She also spent many hours working on her family tree. Patti was most passionate about “keeping up with the latest” with all of her family members.

Patti is survived by her husband of 28 years, Preston (J.R.) Anderson JR of Sun City, AZ formerly of Watsonville, CA; son Scott and daughter-in-law Terri Wemmer of Big Oak Flat, CA; son James and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Wemmer of Corralitos, CA; daughter Mary Wemmer of Surprise, AZ; stepson Mitch Anderson and daughter-in-law Amie Hernandez of Fresno, CA; stepdaughter Tricia Perez of Santa Cruz, CA; 6 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren; brother John R. and sister-in law Susan Benich of Aptos, CA; 1 niece, 1 nephew, 5 great-nephews and 4 great-nieces. Patti was preceded in death by her daughter Leigh Ann Wemmer in 1978.

As per Patti’s request no services will be held. A private (family) celebration of life was held in Big Oak Flat, CA preceding her passing. Patti chose to have her remains donated to Research for Life of AZ/CA.
