The fifth annual Mole and Mariachi Festival took place Saturday at Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park. The festival is a benefit for the nonprofit Friends of Santa Cruz State Parks in support of Santa Cruz Mission State Historic Park. Proceeds from the festival fund educational programs, visitor services and restoration at the Mission. Chefs prepared mole, a traditional Mexican sauce, sometimes made using chocolate, for festival-goers to sample. The event also featured a raffle, kids’ activities, and a beer, wine and chavela garden.
