Stanley Smith was born in Santa Cruz, and graduated from Watsonville High School. He graduated from San Jose State University with a BS degree in Spanish, and a master’s degree in Spanish. He died in Hollister after a long illness.

Stanley had a career in engineering at Cedar Valley Shingle Systems. He is survived by his sister Carol Smith of Astoria, Oregon; his nephews Lucas Grams, Ryon McCullough, Patrick McCullough and their families; and his friends the Cortez family of Hollister. His parents Stanley and Carolyn Smith and his sister Susan Smith Barber died before him. He was connected through his maternal grandmother with the John Daubenbiss family, early Soquel pioneers.
