WATSONVILLE — Three teenagers were arrested near the Vista Point highway exit Friday for possessing a loaded, unregistered handgun.

The California Highway Patrol reported that the driver, 19-year-old Martin Cassidy and his passengers Brent Stansfield, 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile had initially been pulled over for speeding on southbound Highway 1.

During the stop, CHP officers reportedly discovered a concealed handgun inside the vehicle. The weapon was unregistered and was loaded with ammunition.

All three were taken into custody for the weapons violation.
