Veronica Anne Saavedra died on Monday, Sept. 24, 2018 in Watsonville. She was 55.

She was born on Nov. 26, 1962 in Los Angeles to Helen and Michael Saavedra. She was a generous family-oriented woman. She enjoyed family gatherings and barbecues as often as possible. She was a dedicated baker that loved to cook. She channeled her creativity through arts and crafts. She was an avid NASCAR fan that watched whenever she had the chance. She loved music, especially Prince and Reggae. She was a native of Watsonville.

She is survived by her children, Monique Benavidez, Priscilla Benavidez and Michael Thompson; her siblings, Stella Meza, Priscilla Munoz, David Madrigal, Michael Saavedra, Lawrence Saavedra, Richard Saavedra and Vincent Ladino; and six grandchildren.

A visitation service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 7 at Ave Maria Memorial Chapel, 609 Main St. in Watsonville, from 5–9 p.m. with a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be celebrated on Oct. 8 at St. Patrick’s Church located at 721 Main St. in Watsonville at 10 a.m.
